Attorneys who remain noncompliant after the March 31 compliance deadline have been issued a notice of noncompliance via certified mail, detailing the steps required to achieve compliance. These steps may include paying a fee, earning hours, claiming an exemption, or a combination of these actions.
Attorneys must complete the requirements by May 31, 2024, or the Commission will assess a $200 continuing noncompliance fee. Attorneys who have completed their 2023 CLE requirements, but whose hours have not been reported to the Commission by May 31, should submit an Affidavit of Compliance to the Commission that lists all Tennessee-accredited courses they have completed.
CLE compliance in Tennessee requires that an attorney has paid all fees and has either earned the required hours or claimed a valid exemption. Failure to do so by deadlines outlined in Supreme Court Rule 21 will result in additional fees.
