Compliance Timetable – 2023 Compliance Year

October 2023

Commission sends Progress Reports via email to all Tennessee attorneys active with CLE Commission.

December 31, 2023

Deadline for earning 2023 hours without penalty. Attorneys who do not establish compliance by Dec. 31 will be assessed a $100 fee, which will be indicated on the Annual Report Statement. Hours EARNED in 2023, but not yet REPORTED to the Commission will apply toward compliance. Providers have 30 days to report attendance.

February 28, 2024

Annual Report Statements emailed to attorneys. Be sure info@cletn.com is added to your safe senders list.

April 1, 2024

Deadline for receipt of your ARS at the CLE office if you are short hours, owe money, or must claim an exemption. If you are required to return an ARS, the Non-Completion Fee of $100 will be assessed if the ARS filing is late. Documents hand delivered, faxed, mailed or e-mailed to the CLE Commission must be physically at the Commission’s office by close of business on April 1, 2024.

 

May 1, 2024

Commission sends via certified mail Notices of Noncompliance to attorneys who remain noncompliant.

Attorneys eligible for an exemption, such as non-resident, who have not claimed such an exemption must still file their online Annual Report Statement, claim the exemption, and pay any fees due. 

May 31, 2024

Deadline for establishing compliance by filing the Affidavit of Compliance or claiming a valid exemption. Compliance means the hours necessary for compliance have been earned or a valid exemption has been claimed and all fees have been paid to the CLE Commission. Documents hand delivered, faxed, mailed or emailed to the CLE Commission must be at the Commission’s office by close of business on May 31, 2024. Failure to comply with this deadline will result in the imposition of the $200 continuing noncompliance penalty.

 

June 30, 2024

Commission submits Draft Suspension Order to Supreme Court and sends copy via certified mail to named attorneys.

 

August 10, 2024

For noncompliant attorneys, deadline for filing Affidavit of Compliance to avoid suspension. Documents must be at the Commission on August 10, 2024 before the office closes at 4:30 CDT.

 

August 15, 2024

Commission submits final Suspension Order to the Tennessee Supreme Court and assesses a $500 suspension fee to attorneys listed on the order.
