Attorneys have until 11:59 p.m. on December 31 to earn their 2024 CLE hours – 3 ethics (or dual) and 12 general. However, the deadline for reporting the hours to the Commission or clearing up any errors is March 31, 2025, when attorney annual report statements are due to the Commission.
The vast majority of CLE courses are accredited by the Commission, which means the provider is required to report the hours to the Commission and pay the $2/hour reporting fee. Attorneys cannot report hours for accredited courses to the Commission – it must be done by the provider.
For hours earned prior to the December 31 deadline, but not yet reported to the Commission, attorneys should not submit certificates of attendance or other documentation to the Commission. If 30 days have passed since the course was completed, attorneys should contact the provider and ask that their attendance be reported to the Commission.
If an attorney takes a course that is not accredited in Tennessee, please follow the instructions on this page for Unpaid Credits not Reported by the Provider.
