Information for the Public
The Tennessee Supreme Court requires all Tennessee-licensed attorneys to earn 15 hours of continuing legal education annually or claim a valid exemption under Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 21. The Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education is an agency of the Supreme Court that tracks attorney compliance with the requirement. The Commission does not offer CLE courses is not permitted to provide legal advice to the public.
The Commission also maintains a registry of attorneys who are specialists in distinct areas of legal practice. That registry is available here. Certified Specialists have significant experience in their specialty field, have passed an examination, meet continuing legal education requirements for their field, and have received positive references from their clients and other lawyers.
